I would always check when I know I have the absolute nuts on a board even if that nuts is 7-high that can’t be beat by a draw. Yes it may be a obvious move but I think it’s the best move in such a situation. You will win the pot anyway so you might aswell give it a shot.

Playing a 8-high hand with the 8 as the door card.

Saturday, January 12th, 2008

It’s common wisdom that a 8-high hand with the 8 as a door card is a bad hand to get into a pot with, but when would you play it then? Hands such as A-7-8 is truly a terrible hand and something that I almost always throw away in any situation unless it’s only me and the bring-in left or there is one lone donkey with an obviously worse hand in front of you and only high cards behind you.

When is it ok to limp?

Friday, January 11th, 2008

Was reading a post over at Brickin The Nutz about limping:

“Since poker is conditional though, with nothing set in stone, limping does have it’s place, but usually in a situation where you’re slow playing a super strong starting hand against a lone opponent and you don’t want to chase him out early.”

This made me start to think about when it’s ok to limp in a game of razz. (more…)
